Daily Show riffs on Texas secessionists
Last night the The Daily Show masterfully showed how truly bat-shit the Texas secessionist movement can be. The segment mostly follows perennial GOP candidate Larry Scott Kilgore, who claims he’s running for governor in 2014, and fellow secessionist Lynn Troxel. “One of the things that Texas allows, you can still talk on the cell phone and text while driving,” Troxel tells us. “That’s how much freedom Texans want to keep.”
Kilgore, for his part, reaches a new level of Lone Star crazy when he compares Abraham Lincoln to … wait for it … Hitler.
“Lincoln and Hitler are very similar, but most Americans aren’t aware of it,” he says. “Hitler was the one that killed six million Jews, Lincoln was the one that killed 600,000 Americans.” – Michael Barajas
