Krisanne Frost (1951-2012)
San Antonio lost a bright light in the local art scene yesterday. Krisanne Frost, well-known local artist and the gallery liaison at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, died December 6 from cancer at age 61 after being diagnosed just weeks ago. Born in Houston, she spent much of her youth in the Hill Country. At Blue Star, she was the one visiting artists turned to when setting up their exhibitions. She was known to the public as the vibrant presence who met visitors at the Blue Star galleries, happily answering questions about the art on view.
“Krisanne was the smile and the welcome that greeted everyone that came into Blue Star,” said Bill FitzGibbons, director of Blue Star Contemporary Art Center. “She loved showing visitors the various exhibitions and spending time discussing the artists and their artwork. Krisanne’s kind and gracious spirit will be truly missed by all of us.”
“Krisanne was a vibrant part of the San Antonio community and, for the past seven years, the spark of Blue Star,” said Elizabeth Lyons, Blue Star’s marketing and programming manager. “She was wise beyond this world, and her fiery spirit was reflected upon anyone fortunate enough to encounter her. She danced through life, absorbing every moment without regret. To know her was to love her. She will be terribly missed, but her energetic presence will forever be felt within the walls of Blue Star, and her memory will live on.”
Can’t believe you’re gone. Happy trails, Krisanne.
The memorial service for Krisanne is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8 at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy.
