newsmonger is born
Welcome to the new SACurrent blogs: an expression of our striving for ever more community-enhanced, community–currated, and (gods of the dying South Texas summer preserve us!) relevant content. Newsmonger is what the QueBlog was: a dumping ground for all things miserable that, with patience and endured common struggle, lead to mass chortles of hope and glee. Sign up to put this stuff in your mobile device, so you know when the Current is *really* current.
Speaking of, I caught early sight of Uncle Matt’s column for the coming week and took note of his negativity on all things mobile, networked, and socially media, so, like, I’ll spare you any banal Twitter-lite comments here (although my lunch with Annelita was sooooo … off-colorful). However, I will tell you that I’m rounding up tales of Bexar County probationer woe for a coming issue. Enjoying some conversation about WAO-inspired misery, to keep readers up on that failing animal racket in Northwest Bexar, and stuffing my shirtsleeves with examples of Immigration & Naturalization mistreatments. And that thing about Hill Country inbreeding, mentioned on the Current’s Facebook page yesterday? That’s mutating into this week’s top news item. Turn to Newsmonger when you need horrendous news with outlandish potential for positive social and cultural transformation.
In the coming week, you’ll also see Current blogs rolling out to reel you in, at least those of you who care about all the staple (and always improving) arts, music, theater, and visual funk our staff is known for, while also factoring in: sex advice, Teabagger baiters, technophile temptresses, wicked Xicana wit, out-of-bounds Spurs’ dish, and gaming, health, and nightlife notes. That is: this shit’s about to get rowdy.
