Can’t Top the Tip: Friday marks one-year anniversary of ‘ice in his veins’ McDyess
The San Antonio Spurs notched their third straight victory and moved to fourth in the Western Conference standings following Thursday night’s 93 – 81 victory over the sting-less New Orleans Hornets.
It’s hard to believe Friday marks the one-year anniversary of Antonio McDyess’s buzzer-beating tip-in against the vaunted Los Angeles Lakers.
The final score read 89 – 88, San Antonio.
Consider: The win moved the Spurs to 41 – 8 with a 7.5 game lead over their nearest Western rivals – Dallas and Los Angeles.
From there, the Spurs finished the 2010 – 2011 season with a respectable 20 – 13 record. However, we all know the rest – first round disappointment.
Nonetheless, the tip-in by McDyess proved to be one of those Spurs moments to remember and celebrate.
Who doesn’t love seeing a disappointed Derek Fisher?
Miss you, ‘Dyess.
