Gemini Ink presents Community Talk

October 3, 2011

This Wednesday, October 5 at 12:30pm, Gemini Ink will be presenting “Community Talk” with Renata Serafin and Natalia Treviño. Along with other women from around the globe, they will share their stories about becoming naturalized United States citizens. Treviño’s story, and many others, are featured in Shifting Balance Sheets: Women’s Stories of Naturalized Citizenship and Cultural Attachment, edited by Heather Tosteson, Kerry Langan, Charles D. Brockett and Debra Gingerich.

Hear about their journeys filled with courage, heartbreak, trial, survival and joy. The immigration and naturalization experience with all of its complexities comes to life in an intimate conversation when women from Asian, Europe, the Middle-East and North America reflect on their background. Their compelling stories are different yet common to the human experience.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. It will be held at Northwest Vista College’s Huisache Hall located at 3535 North Ellison Drive.

Community Talk is a Gemini Ink Fall Semester special event. Gemini Ink nurtures writers and readers and builds community through literature and the related arts. For more information on this and other Gemini Ink events, contact them at 210.734.9673 or www.geminiink.org.
